How does FundzBuddy work?
FundzBuddy is a free online loan-referral service. You submit one short request, and we forward it to a network of third-party lenders and lending partners who may offer you a personal loan of $100 to $5,000. FundzBuddy is not a lender and does not make credit decisions, set rates, or fund loans — the lender does.
Submit one request
Enter your amount and a few details. It takes about a minute and needs no SSN at this stage.
We match the network
Your request is shared with participating lenders. The initial match is a soft check that doesn’t affect your credit score.
Review any offer
A lender presents terms — amount, APR, and schedule. You compare and decide; nothing is binding until you sign.
How much can you borrow, and what does it cost?
You can request $100 to $5,000. The lender who works with your request sets the final amount, APR, fees, and repayment term, and discloses them in writing before you accept. Using FundzBuddy is free — you only owe what a lender charges if you accept an offer.
| Request amount | Commonly used for | Typical repayment |
|---|---|---|
| $100–$500 | A short bridge before payday | Weeks to a few months |
| $500–$1,500 | An unexpected bill or repair | A few months |
| $1,500–$3,000 | Consolidating a small balance | Several months |
| $3,000–$5,000 | A larger planned expense | Months to a couple of years |
- Free to use. FundzBuddy never charges you to submit a request or review offers.
- Short-term APRs are high. They vary by lender, product, state, and credit, and commonly exceed 200%.
- Military Lending Act. APR is capped at 36% for active-duty service members and their dependents.
- Tribal lenders may operate under tribal law and can exceed state rate caps.
Who qualifies, and will it affect my credit?
Most lenders in the network require that you are at least 18, a U.S. resident, with a regular income source and an active checking account. Submitting a request on FundzBuddy does not affect your credit score, because the initial match is a soft inquiry. A lender may run a hard credit check before making a final offer, and will tell you before they do.
- All credit types considered. The network includes lenders who review applicants with thin or poor credit.
- Soft first, hard later. Matching is a soft pull; only a lender extending an offer may run a hard inquiry.
- Not an application. A request here is not an application for credit with any specific lender.
- You stay in control. No offer is binding until you review the terms and sign with the lender.
What are the alternatives to a short-term loan?
A small-dollar loan can help in a pinch, but it’s usually the most expensive way to borrow. Before you submit a request, it’s worth comparing these lower-cost options.
- Credit-union Payday Alternative Loan (PAL)
Federal credit unions offer small loans with APR capped at 28% — far below typical short-term rates.
- Earned-wage access or an employer advance
Many employers and apps let you draw wages you’ve already earned early, often free or for a small flat fee.
- A 0% intro-APR credit card
If you can qualify and repay within the promotional window, this can be interest-free.
- A payment plan with the biller
Utilities, medical providers, and landlords will often arrange a no- or low-cost installment plan.
- Local nonprofit or government help
Dial 211 or check your state portal for emergency assistance with rent, utilities, and food.
Is FundzBuddy available in my state?
FundzBuddy serves residents of most U.S. states. Because state lending laws differ, the service is currently unavailable to residents of New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Vermont, Maryland, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Arkansas, and Arizona. Availability and terms in supported states are determined by the lender that works with your request.
